Abbreviations

DIVISIONS--“Gt” (Great), “Sw” (Swell), “Pd” (Pedal), “Ch” (Choir), “Pos” (Positiv), “So” (Solo)

FAMILIES OF ORGAN TONE--“Pr” (Principal), “Fl” (Flute), “St” (String), “Tr” (Reed--'Trumpet')

STOPS--If you know the family to which each stop belongs, abbreviate the family name, followed by the various pitch designations. For example: “Pr 8 4 2 IV” means “Principal 8', Octave 4', Super Octave 2', and Mixture IV.” As an alternative, you might abbreviate the name of the stop, such as “Ged 8” (Gedeckt), “Oct 4” (Octave), “Wald 2” (Waldflote).

COUPLERS--Abbreviate each of the divisions involved, separated by a slash or hyphen and followed by the pitch designation: “Gt/Pd 8” or “Gt-Pd 8.”
