Ideas for registration marking specific to hymn playing follow:
REGISTRATION CHANGES--Since most registration changes occur at the ends of verses, mark stop changes or piston changes in the margin following each verse of text.
MANUAL CHANGES--Mark only changes of manual in the margin preceding each verse of text. Use the division abbreviations as described on the previous screen. Use “3/1” or “norm” as an abbreviation for “3 parts on the manual, 1 in the pedal” or “normal arrangement.” Use “man.” for “manual only.” Use “Sw solo” if the hymn melody is to be played as a solo on the Swell (in which case you would assume that the left hand would be on the Great). Use “ten Sw” for “tenor solo on Swell.”
