An organ with ten general pistons is limited to only ten different combinations that can be set at any one time. However, modern pipe and electronic organs are usually equipped with more than one memory level, which permits each of those ten general pistons (and any local pistons) to set more than one combination. For example, an organ with ten general pistons and two memory levels (“Memory 1” and “Memory 2,” or “Memory A” and “Memory B”) could set into memory twenty combinations at any one time. That same organ with eight memory levels could set eighty combinations.
Recall General 5, as previously set, and then omit all 2' manual stops. Now select “Memory 2” or “Memory B” and save this new combinations on General 5. You have now set General 5 twice, with two distinct combinations: one on Memory Level 1 or A, and another on Memory Level 2 or B. Try recalling each by changing between the two memory levels and pressing General 5 after each change.
