Not Quite Right
Here are some of the problems that may appear if the up-down position of your body or the bench is not quite right, and some likely solutions:
- You have to lean forward or press your legs into the bench to play a natural pedal key with the heel. Lower the bench.
- You have to lean back to suspend your feet above the keys. Raise the bench.
- You have to stretch or slide on the bench to reach the lower and upper extremes of the pedal keyboard, the expression and crescendo pedals, or the toe studs. Lower the bench.
- You have to brace yourself with one foot on the organ cabinet to keep from sliding forward onto the pedal keys. Lower the bench.
- You feel strain on your lower back. Raise the bench.
