“Lord, Dismiss Us with Thy Blessing” (Greenville)
IN GENERAL. This hymn has only two unique phrases: measures 1-4 and 9-12. If you learn measures 1-4, you have also learned 5-8 and 13-16. Hold the tempo back to lend dignity.
PEDAL. The toes stay mostly “planted” on two sharps. At measure 10, however, the left toe moves down one key, while the right stretches between C (heel) and E-flat (toe). Drill measures 7-10 repeatedly, pedal alone.
INDEPENDENCE. Be sure that the hands stay legato whenever the feet play repeated notes. The two hands also operate independently quite often. Practice freezing on these spots.
REPEATED NOTES. To add dignity to this hymn, you might lengthen slightly the first note of a repeated pair and shorten the following break.
