If the volume of the Great and Pedal are not controlled by the main expression (“Swell”) pedal (as determined on the previous screen), is there another expression pedal to the left? If so, is it marked with some form of “Great/Pedal Expr.”? This would mean that the volume of the Great and Pedal is controlled by this expression pedal.
Independent expression such as this is found on some electronic organs, but rarely on pipe organs. Normally the pipework of the Great and Pedal divisions is not enclosed, but exposed; that is, they are non-expresive or "unexpressive" divisions.
To be sure, pull stops on the Great and Pedal, play a chord on the Great and a note on the Pedal, and then close and open the Great/Pedal expression pedal. The volume should change. We then say that the Great and Pedal are “enclosed” or “expressive” divisions.
