Other Textures
Other musical textures call for one of these methods or a combination of them as needed. Some examples follow:
- Five-part contrapuntal textures (combine two voice parts and use the individual voice-part method)
- Purely chordal textures (use the seven-step method)
- Double pedaling, where both feet play notes at the same time (break down and learn the pedal parts independently, and then combine them)
- Pieces that shift from one texture to another (use the points of texture change to break down the piece vertically, and then apply whatever method is most appropriate to each section)
