Pain

Hands and Wrists

Pain that develops in the hands and wrists can be a warning sign of physical injury. Certain repetitive motions may cause permanent damage to tissues in the hands and wrists. Motions that require sustained and unnatural bending at the wrist to one side or the other are particularly dangerous. This is one important reason to keep the elbows comfortably close to the body, which reduces the angle between the forearm and the wrist.

Train yourself to sense the difference between a muscle that is undergoing a healthy workout, and a muscle that is being overworked and may be experiencing unhealthy strain or possible damage. When you suspect the latter, stop and work some other muscles for a while. If pain persists, see a doctor.
